Senior Data Scientist – AI Lab

About the role

IDT is expanding its AI Lab and is looking for a hands-on, highly experienced Senior Data Scientist who has built ML models from scratch and deployed them into real-time production. You will work on fraud prevention, payment risk, transaction scoring, personalization and financial forecasting using large-scale transactional datasets, owning the full modeling lifecycle from problem framing to production monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build new models (gradient boosting, neural networks, ensembles, anomaly detection) for anti-fraud, risk assessment and personalization, with rigorous validation to avoid data leakage and overfitting.
• Partner with Data Engineering and MLOps to put models in production (batch and real-time/low-latency), and build training, experiment tracking (MLflow) and model/data drift monitoring pipelines.
• Run A/B tests and statistical evaluations to measure model performance against business metrics such as reduced fraud losses, transaction acceptance rates and decision latency.
• Explore emerging techniques (LLMs/GenAI, graph-based methods), set engineering best practices and mentor team members.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on data science / ML experience, focused on building models from scratch and delivering them in production with measurable business impact.
• B2+ English, fluent in writing and speaking, for technical discussions and collaboration with an international team.
• Deep understanding of statistics, probability and validation, with experience on class imbalance, model calibration and anomaly detection.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related quantitative field; a Master's or Ph.D. is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Python (Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy)
• Hands-on deep learning with PyTorch or TensorFlow
• SQL for complex queries and large-scale data manipulation
• MLOps tools such as MLflow and ClearML
• Nice to have: FinTech, payments or fraud domain experience; Snowflake, feature stores and event-driven architectures; time-series forecasting, GNNs, XAI or applied LLMs
