Engineering Designer – Fiber Optic Networks

About the role

US Software Solutions, a software development company serving the utilities, telecommunications, energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors, is looking for an experienced Engineering Designer in Moldova. The designer develops and maintains fiber optic network designs, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 15:00 to 23:00.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed fiber optic network designs, including layouts, schematics and technical specifications.
• Prepare and update FTTH/FTTx network plans using CAD tools and GIS design software.
• Analyze project requirements and turn them into accurate, efficient network designs.
• Apply knowledge of fiber optic technology, including cabling, splicing and signal transmission.
• Review design documentation to identify issues and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers and other stakeholders, and revise designs based on feedback and client needs.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and provide technical guidance to team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing fiber optic networks, including FTTH/FTTx projects.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD tools and GIS design software.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies, including cabling, splicing and signal transmission.
• Understanding of FTTH network architecture and design principles.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings and project specifications.
