National legal expert on gender equality, human rights and institutional accountability

About the role

UN Women is looking for a national legal expert to support the implementation of its gender‑responsive agenda in Moldova. The role will focus on strengthening legal and institutional frameworks that protect individuals from discrimination, harassment and gender‑based violence, and on ensuring accountability across public institutions, private sector entities and NGOs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and guidance on national and international gender equality instruments, including CEDAW, the Council of Europe Convention, and ILO Convention No. 190.
• Support the implementation of Moldova’s National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and related human‑rights commitments.
• Develop and disseminate guidelines, policies and best‑practice tools for preventing and responding to violence and harassment in the workplace.
• Advise public and private sector employers on compliance with the revised Labour Code and the universal obligations introduced by ILO Convention 190.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of accountability mechanisms and report on progress to UN Women and national partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in law with demonstrated expertise in gender equality, human rights and institutional accountability.
• In‑depth knowledge of international conventions and national legislation relevant to gender‑based violence and workplace harassment.
• Proven experience advising both public institutions and private sector entities on legal compliance.
• Strong analytical and policy‑development skills.
