Country Representative – UNFPA (P5) – Chisinau, Moldova

About the role

The Representative leads UNFPA’s country office in Moldova, overseeing the design, implementation and management of a comprehensive population and development programme that ensures universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal health, family planning and youth empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Country Programme of Cooperation in line with UNFPA strategic objectives and the 2030 Agenda.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high‑quality delivery of services in both routine and emergency contexts.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government ministries, UN agencies, donors, civil society and the private sector.
• Advocate for the integration of sexual and reproductive health and rights into national development policies.
• Oversee programme budgeting, resource mobilisation and financial accountability.
• Represent UNFPA in national and regional fora, providing strategic guidance and reporting to the Regional Director.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in population, development or sexual and reproductive health programmes.
• Proven track record of managing large, multi‑partner projects and budgets.
• Strong understanding of UN systems, donor landscapes and development policy frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication and advocacy skills.
