Senior Kotlin Developer

About the role

We are building the software that drone pilots interact with directly on DJI smart controllers. The application runs as an Android app with a Kotlin presentation layer on top of a shared Kotlin Multiplatform core that also powers our backend. This senior, front‑end‑first role owns the pilot UI while co‑owning the core domain logic.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain the Android presentation layer using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, including flight UI, telemetry displays, video streaming, and mission planning.
• Shape the interface layout, interaction, and information hierarchy in the absence of a dedicated designer.
• Co‑own the shared Kotlin Multiplatform core (domain model, protocol, persistence, sync) alongside the team.
• Render live telemetry and video smoothly on modest controller hardware, designing for degraded links, gloves, sunlight, vibration, and one‑handed use.
• Collaborate with engineers integrating the DJI SDK and gradually take ownership of that integration layer.
• Validate functionality on real hardware and participate in field testing.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
• Expert‑level Kotlin knowledge (coroutines, structured concurrency, Flow, generics).
• Strong architectural instincts: modularization, clear layer boundaries, domain logic separated from UI/framework code.
• Comfortable with automated testing and CI/CD as part of everyday work.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, distributed team.
