Senior Interpreter/Political Assistant (G6)

About the role

The Senior Interpreter/Political Assistant provides English‑Russian translation and interpretation services for the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol and supports political‑economic analysis of the Transdniestrian region. The role combines language work with media monitoring, report preparation and logistical support for mission activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide English‑Russian and Russian‑English translation and interpretation for mission leadership, delegations and official documents.
• Monitor Transdniestrian media, translate news items, and compile open‑source information relevant to the settlement process.
• Assist in drafting analytical reports on political and economic developments for political officers and the spokesperson.
• Support the organization of events, negotiation meetings and official visits, including drafting memos and maintaining a document library.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education with formal studies in modern languages and specialized translation/interpretation training.
• At least six years of experience as an interpreter/translator, including political analysis and office administration, preferably in an international organization.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Russian.
• Demonstrated gender awareness and ability to work impartially in a multicultural team.

Required skills

• English‑Russian and Russian‑English translation and interpretation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
