QA Automation Engineer – Embedded Systems Testing

About the role

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join our engineering team and ensure the quality and safety of complex embedded systems. The role involves both automated and manual testing of safety‑critical railway signalling solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse system and software requirements.
• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python.
• Perform manual functional, integration and regression testing in laboratory and simulated environments.
• Prepare test specifications, document results and generate detailed test reports.
• Analyse defects, conduct initial root‑cause analysis and report findings.
• Support verification and validation (V&V) activities and audit preparation.
• Collaborate with system engineers, developers, safety specialists and V&V teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools and methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Professional experience in software testing, system validation or embedded safety‑critical systems.
• Experience with railway signalling systems such as CBTC, ERTMS, Conventional Interlocking, ATO or Collision Warning Systems is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Python programming (mandatory).
• Knowledge of railway signalling systems (CBTC, ERTMS, Conventional Interlocking, ATO, Collision Warning Systems).
• Experience with safety‑related systems (SIL 1–4) and familiarity with EN 50716:2023.
• ISTQB Foundation Level certification (advantage).
