Political Officer (S2)

About the role

The OSCE is seeking a Political Officer (S2) to join its field mission. The successful candidate will support the mission’s political analysis, reporting and engagement with governmental and non‑governmental actors in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare analytical reports on regional political developments and historical context.
• Liaise with government bodies, NGOs and other stakeholders to gather information and facilitate dialogue.
• Draft clear, concise documents and briefings in English, integrating gender perspectives where relevant.
• Participate in negotiations, mediation and conflict‑resolution initiatives.
• Maintain cultural sensitivity, impartiality and sound judgement while working in a multi‑cultural team.

Required profile

• Minimum six years of professional experience in diplomatic or political affairs, preferably with international organisations.
• First‑level university degree in international studies, public policy, political science, law or a related field.
• Professional fluency in English and working knowledge of Russian; knowledge of Romanian is an asset.
• Demonstrated gender awareness and ability to integrate gender considerations into tasks.
• Willingness to work extra hours, in limited‑infrastructure settings and abroad.
