Payroll Specialist

About the role

US Software Solutions is seeking an entry‑level Payroll Specialist to support its payroll team. You will handle day‑to‑day data entry, timesheet tracking, and assist in payroll preparation for US‑based employees and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Input employee hours, payroll data, and financial notes into spreadsheets and internal systems (Excel, Smartsheet).
• Collect, verify, and organize timesheet data from field employees prior to payroll runs.
• Assist senior staff in preparing payroll calculations for W‑2 employees and 1099 contractors.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date payroll records, employee files, and financial documentation.
• Coordinate with supervisors and field staff to resolve discrepancies in hours or payroll data.
• Participate in training sessions and take on additional tasks as skills develop.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred but not mandatory).
• Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Smartsheet or similar spreadsheet tools.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
