Finance Associate (G-7) – UNFPA

About the role

The Finance Associate will support the UNFPA Moldova Country Office in managing financial resources, ensuring compliance with UNFPA policies, and providing guidance to staff and implementing partners. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role combines finance, budgeting, and travel management responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Manager in strategic financial resource planning, monitoring, and control.
• Interpret UNFPA financial policies, provide training to staff, and ensure compliance across the office.
• Prepare programme and operating budgets, process payments, and produce financial reports, reconciliations, and balance sheets.
• Oversee financial transactions with implementing partners, conduct spot checks, and support audit recommendations.
• Manage travel planning, monitoring, and cost recovery, coordinating with UNFPA travel agents and UNDP.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of experience in finance and budget management, preferably in development or UN contexts.
• First‑level university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or a related field.
• Fluency in English and Romanian.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SAP.
• Ability to produce analytical reports and perform financial reconciliations.
