UNFPA Representative – Country Office, Chisinau

About the role

The Representative leads the UNFPA country office in Chisinau, designing and implementing a population, development and sexual and reproductive health programme. Working with governments, UN agencies, civil society and the private sector, the role advances the 2030 Agenda and the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2026‑2029. The incumbent is accountable for delivering high‑impact results for the most vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction, positioning UNFPA on national development issues, building partnerships with government, UNCT, donors and civil society to secure support for the mandate.
• Manage international and national staff, ensuring performance appraisal, capacity development, safety and security compliance, and fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Lead resource mobilisation and partnership strategies, overseeing budget execution, donor relations and efficient use of funds for the country programme.
• Oversee programme implementation, applying results‑based management, quality assurance, and financial monitoring to meet UNFPA policies and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Public Health, Medicine, Demography, Gender, International Development or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration or international development, with at least 8 years in population, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian contexts at the international level.
