Senior Data Engineer: Data Warehouse & Reporting

About the role

US Software Solutions is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain its data warehouse and reporting infrastructure. You will own the end‑to‑end data pipeline, ensuring reliable ingestion from multiple sources, high‑quality transformation, and performant Power BI reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operate ingestion pipelines that extract, stage, transform, and load data into PostgreSQL.
• Design the warehouse model, including layering, grain definition, incremental load strategy, historisation, and change handling.
• Write and optimise complex SQL queries for both transformation and reporting layers.
• Create and maintain Airflow DAGs with proper scheduling, dependencies, retries, idempotency, and back‑fill capabilities.
• Integrate new internal and third‑party data sources, handling pagination, rate limits, and late‑arriving data.
• Implement data‑quality checks, reconciliation, validation, and alerting for load issues.
• Collaborate with the BI team on the semantic layer, report performance, and upstream model design.
• Improve pipeline maintainability, testing, and observability; set engineering standards and mentor teammates.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering with a strong data focus.
• Fluent in Russian for engineering collaboration and proficient English for documentation.
• Proven ability to produce clear technical documentation that analysts can use independently.

• Python
• Apache Airflow (DAG design, scheduling, idempotent tasks, backfills)
• PostgreSQL and advanced SQL (analytical queries, execution‑plan optimisation)
• Data‑warehouse modelling (dimensional design, slowly changing dimensions, incremental patterns)
• REST API ingestion (pagination, rate‑limit handling, retries)
• Power BI and Microsoft BI stack basics for modelling and debugging
• Docker/containers and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworks (nice to have)
