Senior Advisor – Microbiology, Laboratory Information Systems & Antimicrobial Stewardship

About the role

The Senior Advisor will work directly with Moldova's Ministry of Health and related agencies to strengthen national capacity against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and other high‑threat pathogens. The role provides senior‑level technical leadership at the intersection of microbiology, digital health, and stewardship practice, aligning interventions with U.S. Executive Order directives and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Embed within government ministries to guide the adoption and implementation of life‑saving interventions targeting AMR and emerging pathogens.
• Identify programmatic bottlenecks in laboratory data integration, standardization, and use for decision‑making.
• Facilitate coordination across multi‑sectoral agencies, including the National Agency for Public Health and the National Food Safety Agency.
• Lead technical support for Global Health Security (GHS) projects and, where applicable, the Pandemic Fund.
• Ensure alignment with international reporting frameworks such as GLASS and CAESAR.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in microbiology, laboratory information systems, and antimicrobial stewardship.
• Proven ability to work within government settings and manage multi‑disciplinary stakeholder groups.
• Strong analytical skills to translate laboratory data into actionable public‑health decisions.
• Familiarity with U.S. governmental health directives and global health security standards.
